The Bardia National Park is indeed home to the Bengal Tiger. Many agree that you have a better chance of seeing tigers in Bardia than in Chitwan. With the creation of the 'next door' Banke National Park, combined with Bardia, this is now the largest tiger conservation area in Asia.
Renowned for its bird-watching potential, it is arguably the best place for birding in Nepal. Located in the far east of Nepal on the border with India, the Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve was originally created to protect the last remnants of Nepal's wild water buffalo.
Considering its proximity to Kathmandu, the wildlife found in Shivapuri National Park is astounding. Although there are mammals such as the Common and Clouded Leopard Mammals, Shivapuri is perhaps best known for its birds, of which 318 different species have been recorded amongst the densely forested, steep mountain slopes by ornithologists.
The itinerary below serves as an illustration of the variable possibilities for a wildlife or birding holiday in Nepal.
