Unknown Everest Holiday for Teenagers

Everest & Tigers Adventure

We have shown the itinerary on the basis of a complete holiday purely for illustrative purposes. Naturally as tailor-made Nepal holiday specialists we would be happy to discuss additional options, whether it be other activities, more/less sightseeing, alternative/upgraded accommodation etc dependent upon your interests, preferences and time available. We even tailor-make a suggested 'what to pack' list for you based upon your ultimately chosen Nepal tailor-made holiday too.

Back to Family Holidays

Day 1 - Arrive Kathmandu

Arriving at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, you'll be met and receive a private transfer for the short distance into central Kathmandu and to the "KGH" Hotel in the heart of the Thamel district. You'll be given a briefing on your forthcoming adventure, and in the evening can take dinner at your leisure in one of the many choices of cafes & restaurants in Kathmandu, although the open air courtyard cafe of the KGH Hotel is as good as anywhere.

Accommodation: KGH Hotel  -  Kathmandu

Included Meals: None

Day 2 - Fly to Lukla & trek to Phakding

A private transfer to the airport for the 40min spectacular flight to the airstrip at Lukla. Here you'll meet your porter team and then your first day of trekking is actually downhill and relatively short as you descend a trail to the bottom of the river valley below. It's around 2-3hrs of walking to the village of Phakding (2610m) and your overnight halt staying in a typical trekking lodge.

Accommodation: Trekking Lodge, Phakding

Included Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 3 - Trek to Namche Bazaar

Todays walk begins in a straightforward manner as you follow the trail alongside the river and through pine forests to Jorsale. You'll cross the river a couple of times by suspension and plank bridge and in around 2hrs you'll hopefully get your first glimpse of Everest's summit poking over the Nuptse ridge in the far distance. It's then a stiff climb of 2-3 hrs as the Everest Base Camp trail winds it's way up and up to the Sherpa capital of Namche Bazaar. Walking time approx. 5-6hrs to an altitude of 3400m. Altitude gain 800m.

Accommodation: Trekking Lodge, Namche Bazaar

Included Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 4 - Everest View Hotel & Namche Bazaar

So, you've come to see Everest and whilst you've had tantalising glimpses, today you shall hopefully see Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam and more in all their  glory. Leaving Namche, it's a steep climb out of the village that at this height feels a lot harder than it should. So, take it easy and pace yourself as it's around 2.5 hour walk up to the Everest View Hotel at 3880m. It's not called the Everest View Hotel for nothing, as from this incredible vantage point there are simply jaw-dropping views up the valley and of course there is the summit of Everest, magnificence itself as it pokes high above the Nupste ridge line. Here in this truly outstanding location you take lunch on the terrace of the Everest View Hotel and as it's only a couple of hours walk back, you can soak up the panoramic views without having to rush back 'home'. For the full trek to Everest Base Camp itself, we'd usually class todays walk as an acclimatisation day using the 'climb high, sleep low' principle. But, no one said that such acclimatisation days were easy particularly at this reasonably high altitude. Walking time approx. 5 hours with around 450m ascent and descent.

Accommodation: Trekking Lodge, Namche Bazaar

Included Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 5 - Trek to Phakding

Good news, today is mostly downhill and back to Phakding the way you came up. Strong mountain walkers can usually walk from Namche all the way back down and then up to Lukla. It makes for quite a challenging day though, and after the walk back to Phakding your family may not relish a further 2 hour steep climb back to Lukla. Walking time approx. 4-5 hours.

Accommodation: Trekking Lodge, Phakding

Included Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 6  - Trek to Lukla

OK, you've gotta do it and you know it. It's around a 2 hour ascent back up to Lukla itself, so even without hurrying you'll be in Lukla for lunch and it's time to put your feet up in the afternoon.

Accommodation: Trekking Lodge, Lukla

Included Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 7 - Fly to Kathmandu

Enjoy the thrilling take off from Lukla and as you know, it's a short flight back to Kathmandu. You'll be transferred to your hotel by private vehicle and the remainder of the day is at your leisure. However, you may wish to consider some additional contingency for this trek, whether it be for any delays/cancellations that can and do occur for flights both to and from Lukla, or any difficulties that may arise on the trek.

Accommodation: KGH Hotel, Kathmandu

Included Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 8 - Fly to Chitwan

After a private transfer to Kathmandu Airport you take the short flight to Bharatpur and will then be driven by private vehicle to Chitwan. You should usually arrive in time for an early afternoon game drive.

Accommodation: Into The Wild Resort -   Chitwan

Included Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 9- Chitwan Jungle Wildlife Safari

A day devoted to guided jungle activities provided by your hosts.  Journey by jeep deep into the jungles of Chitwan in search of wildlife such as the elusive Tiger and One-Horned Rhino. You'll also explore the riverside wildlife by dug out canoe too. There are estimated to be over 120 tigers in Chitwan. Sightings are not common, but they do happen! Add an extra day here if you'd like to increase your chances of seeing a tiger!

Accommodation: Into The Wild Resort, Chitwan

Included Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 10 - Drive to Kathmandu

A private vehicle transfer will take you overland to Kathmandu and back to the KGH Hotel. Arriving late afternoon, you're once again spoiled for choices to eat out in the Thamel district this evening and as the shops stay open late there's still time for some last minute souvenir hunting. Perhaps by now you're feeling confident enough to try out some polite haggling. It is of course bad manners to haggle over something you've no intention of purchasing though.

Accommodation: KGH Hotel, Kathmandu

Included Meals: Breakfast

Day 11 - Depart Nepal

A private transfer will take you to the airport for your return international flight.

Included Meals: Breakfast

Of course there's no reason to depart today, your Nepal holiday can be readily tailor-made.
