Unknown easy adventure holidays to nepal

Discover Nepal

We have shown the itinerary on the basis of a complete holiday purely for illustrative purposes. Naturally as tailor-made Nepal holiday specialists we would be happy to discuss additional options, whether it be other activities, more/less sightseeing, alternative/upgraded accommodation etc dependent upon your interests, preferences and time available. We even tailor-make a suggested 'what to pack' list for you based upon your ultimately chosen Nepal tailor-made holiday too.

Day 1 - Arrive Kathmandu

Arriving at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, you'll be met and receive a private transfer for the short distance into central Kathmandu and to the "KGH" Hotel in the heart of the Thamel district. You'll be given a briefing on your forthcoming adventure, and in the evening can take dinner at your leisure in one of the many choices of cafes & restaurants in Kathmandu, although the open air courtyard cafe of the KGH Hotel is as good as anywhere,

Accommodation: KGH Hotel  -   Kathmandu

Included Meals: None

Day 2 - Explore Medieval Bhaktapur

In keeping with the unhurried, relaxed nature of this adventure, no 'crack of dawn' start is needed. A short, private vehicle transfer will take you away from the hustle and bustle of Kathmandu and to medieval, much more peaceful Bhaktapur. For many Bhaktapur is what they hoped Kathmandu would be like. Certainly in the old part of this wondrous city there's no vehicles for starters! A Bhaktapur guide will take you on a slow paced walking tour. For sure, you'll visit all the main tourist attractions here, but your guide will also take you away from the day trippers and to explore the hidden back streets of Bhaktapur. Enjoy a leisurely lunch at your guest house with views right across a square containing pagoda temples and distant views of the Himalaya. By late afternoon the day trippers have departed and this is when the real Bhaktapur reveals itself. This is the best time to simply stroll around Bhaktapur and soak up it's unique atmosphere.

Accommodation: Bhadgaon Guest House -  Bhaktapur

Included Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 3 - Journey to rural Nuwakot

It really is worth waking early and taking an early morning stroll around Bhaktapur as the locals slowly go about their daily business. It's a good way of re-adjusting yourself to a slow pace of life too. Mid-morning a private vehicle will pick you up for the scenic journey to Nuwakot. Certainly when you reach the top of the 2000m road pass and see the mountains stretched out before you and can see Nuwakot down below and perched on the hill sides, you'll now realise that urban Nepal has gone and you're into the Himalayan foothills. Reaching the Trisuli River, a right turn up a single track road climbs up through fragrant pine forests to emerge at dreamy Nuwakot and the delightful former Newari Manor House where you spend the next two nights. Enjoy the afternoon sun in the pretty gardens of the Famous Farm, perhaps say hello to the animals wandering around and just relax and enjoy the views down to the Trisuli Valley below.

Accommodation: Famous Farm Country Inn  -   Nuwakot

Included Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 4 - A short walk in rural Nuwakot

After a leisurely breakfast your guide will take you on a familiarisation walk around Nuwakot. First you'll walk up to a great view point high above the stretched out village, passing tiny, simple home steads along the way.  Heading downhill you'll perhaps meet the kids from the school for deaf, mute children and walk down to the bazaar area before walking back up to the Famous Farm for a tranquil lunch. The afternoon  is yours to relax, or perhaps take a stroll to meet the locals. Your guide will come with you if you want, or if you'd prefer to discover the rural delights by yourselves here in Nuwakot that's OK too.

Accommodation: Famous Farm Country Inn,  Nuwakot

Included Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 5 - Trisuli River Rafting 1

Again no need to hurry. After breakfast you'll travel by private vehicle down to the Trisuli River Valley and to Baireni, the put in point for the rafting. You'll be given a safety briefing, wetsuits, safety helmets and life jackets. Your main baggage will travel ahead by vehicle to tonight's camp, so anything you want with you for today will go into dry bags on the raft. Once you're ready it's onto the river and after around an hour of paddling and a bit of whitewater (Grade 3) you'll stop at scenic river bank location for a picnic lunch. Back onto the water and there's some more whitewater before the river becomes a calmer paddle and to the permanent riverside camp known as Big Fig. Enjoy a BBQ dinner al fresco on the stony beach and a camp fire.

Accommodation: Big Fig Trisuli River Camp

Included Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 6 - Trisuli Rafting 2 & transfer to Pokhara

Take breakfast at camp, and again no 'crack of dawn' start either taking to the river mid-morning to continue your journey down stream. You'll probably get a bit wet today as there's some grade 4 rapids to provide thrills along the way. After 3-4 hours rafting you'll reach Kuringhat and where the rafting ends. But, first a leisurely picnic lunch and then it's back to the road and after around 3 hours of driving you reach Pokhara, Nepal's premier resort. With so many choices for eating out in Pokhara, we thought you'd prefer to eat out tonight at a place of your choosing.

Accommodation: Hotel Karuna  -   Pokhara

Included Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

Day 7 - Trek to Chisapani

It's around a 45 min private vehicle transfer to Begnas Lake and to the trail head, where you'll meet your porters and camp crew. The trail heads up into the foothills of the Annapurna Range. Already one has a real sense of space and clear air and soon you'll attain heights which offer views down to Rupal Lake, and up to Machhapuchare (Fishtail) and the entire Annapurna range. Overnight is by the charming village of Chisapani with its tiny Buddhist Monastery. The campsite at approx 1260m is surrounded by trees and a short 2 minute hike up the hill brings you to a ridge from where the full vista of the Annapurnas presents itself. Walking time approx 5-6hrs with approx. 700m ascent.

Accommodation: Camp, Chisapani

Included Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 8 - Trek to Lipiyani

You're within sight of the same mountains yet the views constantly change. The mighty Annapurna II, Manaslu and Lamjung loom large, and a love affair with Machhapuchhare continues. Todays walk makes for relatively easy  hiking by Himalayan standards as you follow an open ridge line with 'ups & downs' but not particularly sustained  Overnight campsite close to the small village of Lipiyani (1100m) Walking time approx. 6 hrs with around 500m ascent and descent.

Accommodation: Camp, Lipiyani

Included Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day  9 - Trek to Begnas and transfer to Pokhara

It's virtually all downhill as your final day of walking completes this mini-horsehoe circuit of the Annapurna foothills. Waking to 'bed tea' again, it's a good idea to rise early and (hopefully) enjoy a magnificent panoramic Himalayan sunrise as the peaks of the Annapurna range turn from pink to gold. After breakfast the trail descends towards the lakes of Begnas and Rupal and the walking becomes more level. There's no hurry at all today and you'll stop for a relaxing lunch along the way. At the end of the trail a private vehicle will whisk you back to Pokhara. Walking time approx 4hrs, approx 700m descent.

Accommodation: Hotel Karuna, Pokhara

Included Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

Day 10 - To Chitwan

Leaving Pokhara by private vehicle, today you'll transfer down to the Terai region and to the world famous Chitwan National Park.

Accommodation: Into The Wild Resort  -   Chitwan

Included Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 11 - Chitwan Safari

A day of jungle activities and wildlife watching in Chitwan and a jeep safari deep into the jungle. Chitwan is of course famous for its healthy (but rarely seen) population of Bengal Tigers, as well as One Horned Rhinoceros, a dazzling array of birdlife and other exotic animals too.

Accommodation: Into The Wild Resort, Chitwan

Included Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 12 - Overland to Kathmandu

A private vehicle will take you overland and back to Kathmandu. However, you may wish to consider some additional contingency for this trip, whether it be for any delays that can and do occur with overland, or any difficulties that may arise on the trip.

Accommodation: KGH Hotel, Kathmandu

Included Meals: Breakfast

Day 13 - Depart Nepal

A private transfer will take you to the airport for your return international flight.

Included Meals: Breakfast

Of course there's no reason to depart today, your Nepal holiday can be readily tailor-made.
